Bitcoin continues to gain only a few hundred dollars in either direction and is stuck around $26,000 for another day.
Most of the altcoins posted modest daily gains today. Large-caps are led by AVAX, DOT and TONCOIN.
XDC reigns long
Although altcoins are known for their increased volatility, this past month has rarely been the case. In fact, most have failed to make any major moves in either direction since the mid-August crash.
The last 24 hours have been slightly more positive than yesterday, as the green color dominates the charts now. For example, ETH, BNB, XRP SOL, MATIC, ADA, DOGE, and LTC all posted modest daily gains.
The most notable price increases from large-cap alts came from Avalanche (4.6%), Toncoin (3.4%), and Polkadot (3%).
Nevertheless, the day belongs to XDC as it has exploded by over 16% and surged to $0.06.
However, the cumulative market capitalization of all crypto assets remains relatively flat on the CMC as of yesterday at around $1.050 trillion.
Guess where bitcoin is trading today?
The primary cryptocurrency also fell heavily during the aforementioned crash on August 17, hitting a two-month low of $25,300. However, it bounced back quickly and reached $26,000 by the next day.
However, the next 10 days have been nothing but eventful. Aside from a brief drop last Wednesday and a surge to $26,800 on Thursday, the cryptocurrency has failed to move decisively in either direction.
There have been days when the asset has gone up or down by more than $500. Nothing much has changed in the last 24 hours and BTC is still hovering around $26,000.
As expected, its market capitalization is stable at just under $510 billion, while its dominance of alts sits quietly at 48.3%.
