A masked man was caught on video carrying out a pair of chain-store robberies in Brooklyn — as police from coast to coast grapple with an epidemic of retail thefts.
The NYPD released footage of the suspect on Saturday, saying the New York City crook made off with more than $11,000 in goods and cash over the span of two nights.
During the first robbery on August 17, the suspect entered the Fulton Street Burlington store through an emergency exit between 12:43 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. after business hours, police said.
The thief stole a total of $6,050 worth of items, including perfume, clothing and electronics, before fleeing the scene.
The same thief struck again at the Fulton Street Champ store a few weeks later, on Sept. 5, police said.
He forced his way into the business and took apparel, sneakers and $700 in cash for a total of $5,300 during the crime, which occurred between 12:30 a.m. and 5 a.m., police said.
Police said that the height of the suspect was about 5 feet 5 inches and his body was thin.
