Support staff of the college will take strike action next week in dispute over salary, terms and conditions.
Unison said more than 2,000 members in colleges across Scotland would walk out on Thursday 7 September.
A schedule of dates for localized action in colleges across the country will be issued after the National Strike Day.
The union claimed that although college employers have increased their offer by 2% to £3,500 flat-rate pay over two years, it comes with a real risk of compulsory redundancies of support staff.
Those moving out next week will include librarians, IT specialists, technicians, administrative and business support staff, cleaners, canteen staff and estate management staff.
Members turned out 93% to beat the 62% turnout in April.
Chris Greenshields, Unison’s additional education branch secretary, said: “College workers were a year ago due for this pay rise. The length of time it has taken to agree on a salary settlement is unacceptable even by the standards of the college sector.
“The employers’ idea of a solution to the crisis is to threaten our members with compulsory redundancies.
“During the cost of living crisis, effectively members are being asked to pay for their wage increases with their jobs.
“We need the same guarantees that have been given to the rest of the public sector that there will be no mandatory redundancies.
“Unison appeals to the Scottish Government to help us find a solution – employers should not guarantee compulsory redundancy to college staff. The colleges are publicly funded but the government refuses to interfere.
“It seems that the minister is willing to allow the strikes to go ahead instead of ensuring proper wage hike to the employees.”
The colleges where Unison has the right to take strike action are: City of Glasgow College, Edinburgh College, Fife College, Glasgow Clyde College, West College Scotland, North East Scottish College, Glasgow Kelvin College and Ayrshire College.
It also has a mandate to operate at Dundee & Angus College, New College Lanarkshire, UHI Argyll, UHI Moray, UHI Perth, UHI Inverness, Borders College, Dumfries & Galloway College, South Lanarkshire College, West Lothian College, Forth Valley College, Newbattle . Abhay College.
